Eastern Arc has today announced the 13 Thematic Champions who will lead each of  its strategic themes. Together, the champions will develop a focus, a critical mass and a supportive network within each of these areas.

The appointments follow an open competition in May. We received a large number of applications, which were assessed by a panel and a final selection made.

‘Despite these uncertain times, there was a great response to the call,’ said Phil Ward, Director of Eastern Arc. ‘It was great to see such a wide range of people who understood the potential of the collaboration, and were willing to step forward to play their part in forging it.’

The full list of Champions is given below, and we are currently in discussions with a number of colleagues in the areas yet to be confirmed. We will be working with the champions to identify areas of common strength across the three universities, and these will act as a focus for research and the funding that underlies it, as well as the essential engagement with the wider community in our region and beyond.

To find out more or to get involved in any of the four themes, contact Phil Ward.
