Voices of Resilience: UEA event open to EARC

09 June 2025

UEA is hosting an event focusing on higher education and sanctuary in June, and has opened it up to colleagues across the Arc.

Voices of Resilience: Bridging Research, Teaching and Lived Experiences in Higher Education for Sanctuary  is taking place at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, on the 16th of June from 9.30-14.30. There will also be an opportunity to attend the live keynote presentation by Dr Ahmad Akkad online between 9.30-10.50. To register to attend either in person, or online, please fill out the following form

This forum blends academic research and lived experiences in the field of refugee studies. It presents the importance of amplifying the voices of refugees themselves, while admiring the contributions of researchers who are working to address the challenges and opportunities faced by forced displaced communities. The theme underscores the resilience of refugees and the role of research in fostering understanding, advocacy and policy change.

Please do contact S.North1@uea.ac.uk or university.of.sanctuary@uea.ac.uk if you have questions or would like to discuss support to attend.
