Webinar: The ‘healthy ageing’ research priorities of Public Health England

16 July 2020

We are delighted to be hosting a webinar with Public Health England on 5 August at 11am to discuss its recently-identified ‘healthy ageing’ research priorities.

All colleagues at the EARC universities of East Anglia, Essex and Kent are welcome to take part, but places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis, so do register here as soon as possible.

Background

In June Public Health England finalised a list of identified research gaps and priorities around healthy ageing.

These were identified through stakeholder surveys and discussions earlier this year. The list will be used to inform the development of PHE’s healthy ageing programme, as well as prioritising the work of PHE’s Older Adults team in supporting researchers in preparing bids and disseminating findings.

This webinar is an opportunity to look in more detail at these priorities, the thinking behind them and how they will be used in the future.

Helen Brock, Programme Manager for Adults and Older Adults in PHE’s Life Course Team, will introduce the work and will be joined by Bernie Hannigan, PHE’s Director of Research Translation and Innovation.

Format of the webinar

The webinar will be chaired by Phil Ward, Director of Eastern Arc. It is scheduled to last an hour. It will be in two parts:

  • Introduction and overview from Helen Brock and Bernie Hannigan (20-30 mins);
  • Discussion with the speakers about the research priorities (30-40 mins). Depending on participant numbers, this will either be a direct conversation, or questions posed through the comment box.
