The future of research funding: How the landscape is about to change

Eastern Arc will be running a hybrid briefing session on the future of research funding on 8 December 2025 between 11am-12pm. Colleagues can join us on the Canterbury Campus of the University of Kent, or online via Teams. To take part, contact the EMP Directors of R&I at Kent.
In the last six months the Government has signalled a significant shift in the focus and purpose of R&I funding in the UK.
The Industrial Strategy outlined eight priority areas, the Education and Skills White Paper pointed towards a future of specialisation and collaboration, and the Devolution White Paper emphasised the importance of regional decision-making.
This session will provide a clear and simple overview of the key points in these strategies, and a summary of the take-home messages. With these in hand, those taking part will have a better understanding of the future landscape for R&I funding in the UK, and will be in a better position to successfully navigate it.
