ARISE Coastal Resilience Community of Practice: Autumn 2026 Workshops

11 September 2026

We are delighted to announce the next series of ARISE Coastal Resilience Community of Practice online meetings, taking place throughout the autumn.

These sessions are designed to help members learn more about one another’s work, share ideas, strengthen connections across the network, and identify opportunities for collaboration. Each meeting will feature short presentations from Community of Practice members about their current projects, followed by discussion and questions.

Autumn 2026 Schedule

There are four workshops taking place this autumn, which will be online. We will also host an in-person community of practice event at the University of Kent in November; further details below.

The online workshops are as follows:

  • Monday 29 September, 6:00pm-7:30pm: Theme: Ecology, Wildlife and Human Connection to Nature
  • Thursday 15 October, 10:30am-12:00pm: Theme: Knowledge Sharing Networks
  • Monday 27 October, 6:00pm-7:30pm: Theme: Climate Change Impacts
  • Thursday 3 December, 10:30am-12:00pm: Theme: Creativity and Civic Agency

Call for Participants – Share Your Project!

We are looking for Community of Practice members who would like to give a brief introduction to their work.

Presentations will be:

  • Approximately 5 minutes long
  • Followed by discussion and questions from attendees
  • Focused on sharing current projects, research, initiatives, or activities relevant to coastal community resilience
  • An opportunity for presenters to share their interest in collaboration with other CoP members and search for project partners

The themes above are intended simply to provide a focus for each session. They are deliberately broad, and everyone is welcome to attend and share regardless of whether their work fits neatly within a particular category.

If you would like to present at one of the meetings, please contact the ARISE team at arise@easternarc.ac.uk and let us know which session you would prefer.

These online meetings sit alongside the ARISE Community of Practice’s programme of in-person events. Together, they are intended to strengthen connections across the network, facilitate knowledge exchange, and create opportunities for learning and collaboration among members.

We are happy to share that a date and venue has been set for the next in-person event, which will take place on 13 November 2026 at the University of Kent. More details will shared closer to the event but for now please save the date in your diary!

Looking Ahead

Based on feedback from Community of Practice members, future sessions in spring 2027 are also likely to explore topics including:

  • Community participation and engagement
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Place and identity
  • Local governance and decision-making

Further details will be shared in due course.
