VACANCY: Research Associate for the ARISE initiative

05 August 2025

The £2.9m UKRI-funded ARISE initiative is seeking an interdisciplinary research associate (RA) to join its team.

You would be the 4th postdoc to join a dynamic team that spans 9 universities, 20 co-Investigators, and 12 field sites in the UK. If you are looking to join a truly transdisciplinary team pursuing answers to some of the world’s most complex issues (climate adaptation, sea level rise & coastal defense, hazards governance, political trust & behavior, inequality & depravation, policy change), this project may be the place for you.

This 30-month post forms part of an exciting strand of work exploring the role of creativity in education, healthcare, and well-being within coastal communities, and aims to develop innovative, ecologically valid methods for understanding and supporting evaluation of creative processes. Central to this role is the design of a suite of digital systems for this evaluation, including AI, that are not only technically robust but also inclusive and grounded in real-world human experience.

You would be employed by the University of Kent and work under Professor Jim Ang, with the full project directed by Professor Gina Yannitell Reinhardt at the University of Essex.

Deadline

The deadline for applications is 23.59 hours BST on Thursday 07 August.
