First Eastern ARC Conference for the Quantitative Social Sciences

First Eastern ARC Conference for the Quantitative Social Sciences

29 October 2014

The first Eastern ARC conference for the Quantitative Social Sciences was held in March 2014. Academics from a range of social science disciplines within the Eastern ARC presented their work to over 35 attendees.

Leading on from this, a database of staff members engaged in quantitative research in all three universities is being created, which will be shared across the Eastern ARC. In addition, working with Essex and UEA, Kent is creating a range of data resources that give social scientists, local authorities and businesses secure access to sensitive Big Data and support in using those data to undertake social scientific research.

The universities of the Eastern ARC intend to hold similar workshops in the future, and plans are underway to establish a joint speaker series.
